MOSCOW, ID – The man accused of killing four University of Idaho students in November appeared in a Moscow courtroom today (Mon).
28-year-old Bryan Kohberger, who was indicted by a grand jury last week, has been in the Latah County Jail since early January after being arrested and charged with the 1st -Degree Murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle. Kohberger was read the charges he faces and answered “I do” when asked if he understood them.
His attorney then indicated Kohberger would remain silent and Judge John Judge entered a not guilty plea.
A trial date has been set for October 2nd. Kohberger could face the death penalty if convicted. Prosecutors have not yet said if they will seek it, but attorneys have been appointed who are qualified to handle capital cases.
