POST FALLS, ID – With the assistance of the Moscow Police Department and other agencies, a 61-year-old Post Falls man was arrested today without incident for federal child pornography production violations. Post Falls Police officers arrested Kevin Ronald Richmond with the assistance of the U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Marshal’s Service, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Idaho Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
The investigation was initiated in response to numerous cyber tips filed with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that had been reported by an electronic service provider. It is alleged that Richmond was saving child pornography in cloud storage.
“At the time of the arrest, a search warrant was conducted at Mr. Richmond’s Post Falls residence on Iron Horse Cir. Mr. Richmond’s digital devices were collected as evidence and they have been submitted to the Post Falls Police Department Digital Forensics Lab for in-depth analysis, as authorized by a search warrant. If more illegal files are located, further charges may be added at a future date,” a press release states.
It is important to note that an arrest is not a conviction and Mr. Richmond is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
This investigation has been supported by the Post Falls Police Department’s memberships in the US Secret Service Cyber Fraud Task Force and the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Post Falls Police Department actively investigates child pornography offenders and if you have any information about persons involved in child exploitation, please contact the PFPD or file a Cyber Tip with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at www.ncmec.org.
