Hot August Nights and DUI emphasis patrols return to Lewiston

As Hot August Nights and 300 vehicles take over downtown Lewiston to wrap up the long summer, the Idaho State Police and local law enforcement partners will have additional DUI emphasis patrols throughout the weekend.

Emphasis patrols, meant to keep the public safe, begin Thursday night and run through the weekend. ISP has partnered with the Lewiston Police Department, the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, and associated Prosecutor’s Offices to bring more support to the area.

Those arrested for suspected DUI will be processed and booked into jail. There will be a “Zero Refusal” policy with law enforcement seeking warrants for blood evidence.

Law enforcement agencies encourage the public to enjoy all of Lewiston’s Hot August Nights events. But if alcohol will be a part of weekend activities do not drink and drive. Designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get home safe.
