Whitman County deputies seize fentanyl, other drugs during traffic stop

A drug arrest was made Monday night in Colfax after Whitman County deputies pulled over a driver for a routine traffic violation and discovered drug paraphernalia in his vehicle.

According to the Whitman County Sheriff’s office, deputies obtained a search warrant out of concern for possible narcotics trafficking and discovered 150 Fentanyl Tablets, 48 grams of Heroin and 53 grams of Methamphetamine in the car. Also located in the vehicle was a loaded handgun and other items of paraphernalia associated with trafficking narcotics.

The driver, 27-year-old Joseph Baker of Airway Heights, Washington was later booked into the Whitman County Jail on 3 Counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Driving with a Suspended License.

Baker is set to have his first appearance later this afternoon in Whitman County Superior Court. He is believed to have at least 6 prior felony convictions. (Whitman County Sheriffs Office)
