
Washington’s population has topped 7.5 million, with growth coming mostly from those moving to the state.
Numbers released by the Office of Financial Management show the state has grown by 119,000 residents over the past year, a 1.6 percent increase. Net migration accounted for 76 percent of the state’s population growth, with births responsible for the rest.
The state’s population has grown by 822,000 people since April 2010, with 295,000 moving into King County.
Population growth has remained concentrated in five of the state’s largest metropolitan counties: Clark, King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Spokane, where 69 percent of the population growth occurred this year.
The top five cities for population growth are Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, Spokane, and Kennewick. (AP)
