The Clarkston City Council has approved updated regulations for the use of fireworks within city limits. Council members on Monday voted to allow aerial fireworks to be used, but limited private displays to the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve.
The vote was 4-3 to dismiss a proposed ban on aerial fireworks, followed by unanimous approval to reduce the number of days fireworks can be discharged.
While the majority of speakers at recent meetings were opposed to the ban of aerial fireworks, others cited safety concerns as reasons to support prohibiting their use.
The new rules go into effect next year. (Lewiston Tribune)
