A special correspondent and host for National Public Radio will receive Washington State University’s 2019 Murrow Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism on Wednesday.

Melissa Block began her career at NPR in 1985 as an editorial assistant for “All Things Considered.” She climbed the ranks to become the program’s senior producer.

Along with the award, Block will give the keynote speech at the 44th annual Murrow Symposium at 7 PM Wednesday in the Compton Union Building Senior Ballroom on the WSU campus in Pullman. The keynote speech will be held in conjunction with other symposium events scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

The Murrow Symposium brings prominent media figures to the WSU campus to talk about contemporary issues and offer students the opportunity to seek advice from alumni and communication professionals.

Although the event is free, attendees are asked to register for the event because of limited seating. (WSU, Lewiston Tribune)
