Idaho drivers are continuing to see lower prices at the gas pump.
According to the American Automobile Association, today’s average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the Gem State is $4.02, which is nine cents less than a week ago, and 51 cents less than a month ago. However, prices are still about 61 cents higher than a year ago.
The national average currently sits at $3.79 per gallon, which is seven cents less than a week ago and 40 cents less than a month ago, but 65 cents higher than a year ago. Idaho currently ranks 9th in the U.S. for the most expensive fuel. 48 of the 50 states saw price drops this week.
The main reason for cheaper gas prices is the lower cost of crude oil as tensions ease in the Middle East.
Of Idaho’s largest cities, Pocatello has the highest average price for a gallon of regular in the state at $4.14, while Franklin has Idaho’s lowest average price at $3.73. Lewiston’s average price is currently $4.11.
