The Idaho Department of Insurance, State Fire Marshal’s Office, has announced that Casey Lane Heath has been sentenced after pleading guilty to Arson in the First Degree for intentionally setting multiple fires inside his Orofino residence.
The case stems from an incident in which Heath set fire to his unit in a tri‑plex, igniting four separate points of origin within the home: the kitchen, the living room, a bed in the bedroom, and a closet. The coordinated response and subsequent investigation were conducted by the Orofino Police Department, Orofino Fire Department, and Deputy State Fire Marshal Josh Masterson.
On April 7, 2026, the Second Judicial District Court in Clearwater County sentenced Heath to a unified four‑year sentence, consisting of two years fixed and two years indeterminate. The sentence was suspended, and Heath was placed on four years of supervised probation, according to court records.
As part of the judgment, Heath was also ordered to pay $6,357.62 in restitution to the victim.
“This case shows the strong collaboration between local law enforcement, fire services, and our State Fire Marshal investigators,” said State Fire Marshal Knute Sandahl. “Intentional fires put lives at risk—not only the occupants, but also neighbors and first responders.”
Heath is required to comply with all conditions of probation, including 30 days in the county jail, community service, and adherence to treatment recommendations.
