The identity of the inmate found deceased Sunday in the Whitman County Jail has been released.
According to the Whitman County Coroner’s Office, the inmate has been identified as 30-year-old Jesse Harrell.
A press release from the Sheriff’s Office says during the early morning hours Sunday, a corrections officer found Harrell unresponsive in his cell. It happened while jail staff were conducting regular rounds. The release goes on to say they used “life-saving measures”, and local emergency medical services responded, but Harrell was pronounced deceased.
The cause and manner of death are still being investigated.
