
The Lewiston Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 2223 2nd Street last (Thur) night.
According to a news release, arriving units observed fire coming from the attic space of the residence. Crews made entry into the home and were able to quickly knock down the fire in the attic and the outside of the residence. A search of the residence confirmed that all occupants had safely gotten out of the home prior to firefighters arrival.
Crews remained on scene for about two hours to ensure the fire was fully extinguished, to check for any extension of the fire, and to ensure the house was safe for the owner to enter.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and damage to the residence and its contents is estimated at about $150,000. There were no injuries reported.
