Farmers and other Idaho citizens and businesses that use working animals have a little more protection. Governor Little signed Senate Bill 1241a into law yesterday (Tues). It makes it illegal for a city or county to make laws more restrictive than Idaho state law when it comes to using animals in a way they have already been used. The bill defines “working animals” as “any animal used for the purpose of performing a specific duty or function in commerce or service.” It goes on to get specific by saying “…service or activity that has traditionally involved the utilization of working animals.”

The bill very speficially says is does not apply to cockfighting or dogfighting.
