
Both University of Idaho basketball teams are headed for their respective NCAA National Tournaments after claiming Big Sky Conference Tournament Championships yesterday (Wed) and last night in Boise.
Ana Beatriz Alves da Silva put up a team-high 12 points in leading the top-seed Idaho women to a 60-57 win in the title game over #2 seed Montana State. The Vandal women will take their 18 game win streak and a 29-5 record into the women’s national tournament.
Meanwhile, the #7 seed Idaho men continued their underdog run with a 77-66 upset win over #4 seed Montana.
Isaiah Brickner had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Vandals who improved to 21-14 on the year, and punched their ticket to the Big Dance for the first time since the 1989-1990 season.
