The Idaho House holds their third reading on a Joint Memorial to return marriage to an opposite-sex union. House Joint Memorial 167 would send a message to the Supreme Court to reconsider their decision in Obergefell v. Hodges that allowed same-sex couples to marry.

The Memorial says the Court’s decision “…invokes a definition of “liberty” that the framers would not have recognized, rejecting the idea captured in the Declaration of Independence that human dignity is innate, and instead suggesting that it comes from the government.”

It goes on to say that “…the Idaho Legislature insists on restoring the issue of marriage and enforcement of all laws pertaining to marriage back to the several states and the people.”
