| KANSAS CITY, Mo. – LC State Athletics had 17 winter student-athletes earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, announced by the national office on Tuesday. Warrior Women’s Basketball led the group with eight award winners, men’s basketball earned five and dance had four.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in standing with a minimum 3.5 grade point average. The student-athlete must have been enrolled at LC State for at least one year.
“I am proud of the commitment shown by this group of basketball and competitive dance student-athletes in the classroom,” athletic director Jim Klemann said. “This award represents what it means to be a true student-athlete in the NAIA.”
Camden Barger, Ella Nelson, Lindsey Wilson, Payton Hymas and Sitara Byrd all earned the award as a senior class, as did juniors Grace Beardin and Tatum Brager. Sophomore Kendall Wallace also represented women’s basketball on the award list.
LC State Men’s Basketball had all three seniors earn the accolade in John Lustig, Grayson Hunt and Peyton Nordland. Sophomores Dylan Skaife and Josh Salguero also met the criteria.
Warrior Dance was led by senior Zoe Kempton and juniors Greta Boreson and Emma Goodsell. Sophomore Stephanie Rahe earned the award in her first year eligible.
