Washington Republicans are excited to set a new record. Washington State House Republicans posted on Facebook that opposition to the tax that just passed the Senate has pulled in more than 100,000 signatures from people who don’t want a new state income tax.
State Senate Democrats largely voted in favor of the bill, passing it through. Senate Bill 6346 would impose a 9.9% tax on income for single people and households earning $1million or more. It would put the tax money into the general state fund.
Local Senator Mark Schoesler voted against it.
If you’re a Washington voter and you would like to show your support for or against the bill, you have until 8am on Tuesday to register before it goes to a House Finance hearing at that time.
