The Lewiston Police Department is in need of more participants for its annual Citizens Police Academy or it could be canceled.

Officials have extended the sign-up deadline to this Wednesday, Feb. 25th, and the class begins March 3rd and runs through May 5th.

The Academy is a great opportunity for community members to get an inside look at the Police Department and build stronger connections with officers while learning more about policing and what the job entails.

The Lewiston Police Department conducts a 10-session (10 weeks) Citizen Police Academy for 20 participants yearly. Classes are held each Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Lewiston Police Department Training Center. There is no cost to the student for the 10-week course. The Police Department only asks that each person in attendance make a commitment to attend each of the 10 classes. Attendees must be at least 18 years of age.

Anyone interested can sign-up or learn more information here.
