
LC State Athletics earned a pair of Cascade Conference McDonald’s Player of the Week honors. Darian Herring earned her LC State Women’s Basketball record fifth Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season, while Bryce Johnson earned the first Player of the Week award for Warrior Baseball this year.
Herring hit a major career milestone over the weekend with the 200th block of her career. The junior totaled seven blocked shots over the weekend including five against Northwest (Wash.) to go with 10.5 rebounds per game and four total steals.
It’s Herring’s fifth weekly honor of the season and seventh of her career. Her five CCC Player of the Week awards is now the most by an LC State Women’s Basketball player in a single season.
Johnson had another standout weekend and helped the #21 LC State Baseball team to a four-game sweep of Texas A&M-Texarkana. The outfielder hit .615 with two doubles and a home run. Johnson drove in 10 runs and scored five. He started the weekend with a 3-for-4 performance and five RBI and drove in three runs in game three. He had a hit and RBI in each game.
This is the first weekly honor of Johnson’s career.
