Current Undersheriff Blake Richards announced this morning that he’s running for the highest elected position in Asotin County.
In a press release, he cites his “commitment to experienced leadership, public safety, and accountability to the people of Asotin County.”
He continues in the release that he has 16 years of law enforcement experience, serving in “policing roles” since 2010, combined with years in the fire, emergency medical, and air medical service, as well as public-safety education.
Richards went on in the release to say “This isn’t just where I work—it’s where my family lives and where we plan to stay,” Richards said. “Asotin County is our forever home. Protecting this community isn’t political to me—it’s personal. As sheriff, my goal is simple and my priorities will include maintaining professional and constitutional police practices; supporting deputies, corrections staff, and civilian employees; and ensuring transparency and accountability to the people of Asotin County.”
Earlier this week Asotin Police Chief Monte Renzelman announced his candidacy for the same position.
