The Idaho Transportation Department recently had a competition in schools to name their snow plows. Students in Genesee had one of the best titles, so today (Fri) they got to see the results. The ITD brought “Blizzard Basher” to the school for kids to see first-hand, but not before the high schoolers got to chat with the plow drivers about winter driving safety. Principal Kelly Caldwell says the project was a great opportunity for the kids to have fun and learn something at the same time.
“They took it on, and had brainstorming ideas, they came up with a name, and they submitted it, and then the next thing I know, they said ‘hey, we won’. So the kids were super excited and we found out we got to have the assembly here.”
The kids climbed on it and got a chance to see their name on the front. The plow drivers even let kids sit in the cab to get an idea of what it looks like that high up. During the assembly, they stressed the large blind spots and how the safest place to be during a snow storm is behind the plow.
