The remains of a body found off South Palouse River Road have been identified. The Whitman County Coroner identified them as Michael Shawn Garcia. A release on the Colfax PD’s Facebook page says the cause and manner of death couldn’t be determined because of the advanced decomposition.
Missing persons websites list Garcia as going missing nearly 10 years ago in July, 2016, last seen buying something at a local grocery store that evening.
The remains were found on December 22nd just after midnight as a citizen was walking a dog along the road less than a mile outside of town.
