TriState Health Begins Residency Program

TriState Health is working to bring more doctors to the area and they’re hoping you’ll help them achieve that goal. The Fund Our Future campaign is happening today and you can donate to any amount to help the hospital.

They’re starting a residency program that brings young doctors to Clarkston for their last three years of training. National statistics show about 60% of resident doctors stay within 100 miles when they’re finished. D’Lynn Ottmar with TriState Health says for a rural area like eastern Washington, that could mean a lot.

“We have about 183 doctors in our area per 100,000 people. That’s just not enough to care for everybody. And so, for us, we’re just doing our part to bring more providers to our area.”

Just before the Fund Our Future campaign kicked off, TriState received a $1million in federal support. Ottmar says that will be a big help, but it’s still up to local residents to keep the program going and keep new doctors coming to Clarkston.

If you’d like to donate any amount at all, you can go to tsh.org/fundourfuture today.
