Starting tomorrow (Nov 1st), it’s legal to have studded tires in Washington. Usually they’re not needed in the Evergreen State until December, but early snows this year have hit the Cascade passes, closing Chinook and Cayuse passes much earlier than usual.
In Idaho studs have been legal since October 1st, but even if your car has an Idaho plate, it’s still illegal to cross the bridge into Washington with them on until November 1st.
In Washington, studs are legal until March 31st. In the Gem State, it’s the end of April.
