
One person was injured following a single-vehicle crash on the White Bird Hill along U.S. Highway 95 south of Grangeville Saturday night.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, at around 9:50 p.m., Idaho County Dispatch received a mobile 911 call from an iPhone detecting a crash.
An Idaho County Deputy responded and located the vehicle approximately 500 feet down the embankment off of Highway 95, just south of the White Bird Battlefield parking lot near milepost 227.
The Grangeville Mountain Rescue Unit, Syringa Ambulance and Extrication, and the Salmon River Fire Department responded and assisted with extricating the driver from the vehicle and performed a rope rescue to hoist the driver up the hill. The driver was transported by Syringa Ambulance for medical treatment.
The vehicle was recovered the next day by Frank’s Towing and Recovery.
