The Lewiston High football team won the Inland Empire League title after a thrilling Kansas tie-breaker event held last (Mon) night in Coeur d’Alene.
After the three teams in the league all wound up with 1-1 records following the regular season, Lewiston, Lakeland and Sandpoint had to play each other to determine who would be crowned league’s champion.
The Bengals defeated both Sandpoint and Lakeland to open the night, before falling to Lakeland. The winner-take-all match-up saw LHS senior quarterback Mason Way score both a touchdown and the winning 2-point conversion to give Lewiston an 8-7 win and the regular season title.
The Bengals, who are the #8 seed will open the Idaho State 5-A playoffs this weekend at home against #9 seed Lakeland. The game will either be played Friday or Saturday at the P1FCU Sports Complex in Lewiston with live radio coverage in the LC Valley on The River 105.1 FM and streamed free online at bengalsports.com.
