
The Asotin Police Department is investigating the vandalism of the “Welcome to Asotin” sign located at Baumeister Drive (also known as Asotin Creek Road) and Highway 129 Friday afternoon. According to a news release, the incident was discovered at about 1:30 PM, when it was found that someone had spray-painted the words “Kill Trump” in red on the sign.
The last known report indicated that the sign was undisturbed at around 12:00 noon. The sign was seen by citizens and appeared intact at that time. The vandalism had to have occurred between Noon and 1:30 PM.
Additionally, there have been reports of similar acts of vandalism along the bike path between Asotin and Critchfield Road. The department is actively investigating all incidents.
In response to the vandalism, the sign has been taken down for repairs and restoration.
