IDFG Investigates Wasted Buck on Mount Idaho Grade

A whitetail buck was shot and left to waste along the Mount Idaho Grade east of Grangeville. The deer was shot between the evening hours of Sunday, Oct. 19 and 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20.

The shooter or shooters made no attempt to recover the deer. Only the head was taken.

Evidence at the scene indicates that the shooter shot from the road and did not attempt to retrieve the animal. Fish and Game has investigated multiple big game animals shot and wasted by poachers in the Clearwater Region.

The Mount Idaho Grade is a well traveled road and it’s hoped that another motorist may have noticed the guilty party or their vehicle. Citizens Against Poaching is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

Anyone providing information can remain anonymous and my be eligible for a financial reward if the information leads to an arrest or citation.
