Earlier this month the Washington Department of Transportation was inspecting the Interstate Bridge. A press release from the DOT says this week they’re planning to do “Emergency Repairs”. Tomorrow (Tues) and Wednesday they’ll have westbound traffic diverted into one of the eastbound lanes. It starts at 8:00am and they expect to be done by 3:30pm on Wednesday. Traffic, especially wide loads, coming in from out of town will be diverted to the Red Wolf Bridge. Anything wider than 9 feet is advised to use the Southway Bridge.
The press release did not detail the damage to the bridge. We are waiting for the DOT to return our call about what’s wrong, and why it’s considered an “emergency”.
