Lewiston Child Seriously Injured in Collision with Truck

The Lewiston Police Department and Lewiston Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of 21st Street and 11th Avenue for a vehicle vs pedestrian traffic collision yesterday (Wed) morning.

According to a news release, the initial investigation shows an 11 year old boy was struck by a 1993 Ford F150 while he was using the crosswalk while riding a bicycle. The driver of the pickup was an unidentified 21-year-old man from Lewiston. The driver of the truck was turning right off of 11th Avenue to drive south on 21st Street and had a green light at the time of the collision.

Impairment was not a factor in the collision.

The victim was transported via ambulance to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, before being life-flighted to Spokane with life-threatening injuries.

The intersection of 21st Street and 11th Avenue was closed for about two hours while the Lewiston Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Team was on scene.
