The Moscow Police Department is releasing more information into the assault on Greek Row Wednesday. They’re also advising people to stop harassing witnesses.
In a release they talk about the fight that happened at 8:53pm near the intersection of Idaho Avenue and Deakin Avenue on the University of Idaho campus.
It says when officers arrived, they found one adult male had sustained significant injuries.
They’re hoping to address “rumors and misinformation being shared in the public in regard to this incident…” They say the rumor that there were multiple people attacking another is false. The release says they have evidence that clearly shows this was an altercation between two adult males. Another rumor is that the man in the hospital, Austen Dawson, was “curb stomped”. They define the term as “striking someone’s head against the curb of a street with one’s foot.” They say the evidence does not show that happened.
Another part of the message they sent out was to address the fact that people in the public are sending what is perceived as threatening messages to the non-injured person involved and that person’s fraternity members and acquaintances. The MPD release advises people to stop conducting their own investigation and harassing witnesses. That behavior could constitute a criminal offense.
The MPD has not arrested or charged anyone at the time of writing this story. They are continuing their investigation.
