St. Joseph Regional Medical Center is buying Catalyst Medical Group. The hospital made the announcement this afternoon (Tues). In a press release hospital leaders say “The unified organization will create a more comprehensive and integrated healthcare delivery system for the patients and communities it serves.”

The Catalyst practices that are joining St. Joe’s include Lewiston Orthopedics and Valley Medical Center. The three businesses will continue to work independently until they combine. That’s expected to come later this year.

The release goes on to list departments that will improve through the merge. It says services that will expand are cancer, maternity, heart and vascular, neurology, wound, orthopedic, primary care, and pediatric services.

Ed Freysinger, CEO of St. Joseph said in the release “As one system, we will help shape the future of healthcare in the region while continuing to honor the rich 123-year history of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. We carry forward the spirit and dedication of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Idaho, whose legacy continues to inspire us.”
