
Idaho drivers are feeling some relief when they stop to fuel up today – according to the American Automobile Association, the average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $3.47, which is about two cents cheaper than a week ago, about a penny less than a month ago, and 11 cents less than a year ago.
The national average currently sits at $3.19 per gallon – the same as a week ago, but three cents more than a month ago and 12 cents less than a year ago.
Matthew Conde with AAA-Idaho says refineries have been able to keep up with surging demand as people traveled over the holiday weekend, and crude oil prices are still manageable. He added that hopefully pump prices will take a seasonal slide as more people stay closer to home as summer winds down.
Of Idaho largest cities, Boise has the state’s highest price for a gallon of regular at $3.56, while Franklin has the state’s lowest average price at $3.29. Lewiston’s average price is currently $3.39.
