Asotin County residents have a decision to make this November. The Rural Library District will have a levy lid lift on the ballot.
The levy is not new, just the amount. When voters originally approved, it was 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value, but like the Fire District’s levy that was just approved, it was decreased by state law. Now the library board is asking voters to return it from 40.25 cents to 50.
A release from the library says the change would mean increase of $29.75 per year to the average-valued home. If it does not pass, they will be forced to cut staffing, hours, and services.
