
A Washington state man was killed in a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon east of Lowell on U.S. Highway 12.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, at about 1:40 p.m., dispatch received two SOS messages, one from a Text to 911 indicating an accident had occurred, and a Garmin SOS activation. Both were activations with no messages attached, just locations. The coordinates plotted to Highway 12 near milepost 115.5, about 18 miles east of Lowell.
Deputies responded and located a motorcycle and driver off the side of the road, down an embankment approximately 40 feet. Deputies began CPR, which was continued by medical personnel once they arrived, but the driver succumbed to his injuries.
The Idaho County Coroner confirmed the identity of the driver as 54-year-old Jason Short of Kenmore, Washington.
