This weekend there will be a lot of activity on the river. The group Nimiipuu Protecting the Environment is hosting a flotilla. Anyone who wants to join is welcome to grab a raft, canoe, or any un-powered boat and spend time on the water.
The event starts on Friday at Hells Gate State Park with live music, two speakers, and an outdoor screening of The Grand Salmon.
Saturday the flotilla starts at 9am at the Asotin Boat Ramp. From there, the trip to Hells Gate State Park will take about two hours. At noon there’s a salmon lunch followed by more speakers and a blessing, song, and drums.
The event’s website says it’s a chance “to celebrate the profound opportunities a free-flowing lower Snake River and abundant salmon and steelhead will bring to the Northwest…”
