It’s largely a weekend off for local towns, but there are still some family-friendly events happening.
The Chief Lookingglass Powwow is this weekend. Starting Friday, Kamiah will be bustling with activity for the 49th annual gathering. The Grand Entry is Friday at 7pm. Saturday kicks off with a huckleberry pancake breakfast and a fun run. Events continue through Sunday afternoon.

Pullman is host to the National Lentil Festival. Saturday at 7:30 is the Tase T. Lentil 5K run/walk. The Grand Parade starts at 11:00. That’s where kids are encouraged to show up early and decorate their bikes. The festival officially opens at noon and runs until 10:00pm with a variety of events. It’s mostly at Reaney Park in Pullman.
It’s time for Wild Weippe Days. The weekend starts on Friday and is jam-packed with things to do. The fun includes live music, a parade, drag races, and of course, the Wild Weippe Rodeo.
In The LC Valley, there’s a back-to-school party at Pioneer Park. The free event is Sunday from 2pm-6pm. There will be food vendors, a DJ, and general park-style fun.
And the Aquatic Center’s last day for the outdoor water park is Saturday. That means Sunday the pool goes to the dogs. The event is for the whole family, but only dogs get to swim. There will also be a dog wash, nail clipping, and other events. They do ask that your dog be well-socialized to other dogs and people. Admission: Dogs are $5, humans are free.
