It doesn’t help our area very much, but parts of Idaho, Washington, and Montana are now expected to have fewer wildfires.

The National Interagency Fire Center released their wildfire prediction map. The areas of red are considered “Above Normal” for significant wildland fire potential. The outlook from July covered all of Washington and Oregon, with most of Idaho, and nearly all of Montana with “above normal” expectations. Now northeastern Washington, the Idaho panhandle, a strip through central Idaho, and most of Montana are back to “normal” expectations for wildfire.
