Last night at about 11:00 Blue Mountain Fire responded to a fire on Forgey Road, northwest of Anatone. It was big enough to be seen from Lewiston.
Blue Mountain Fire reports it was burning in wheat stubble, blue grass, and CRP land (CRP is Conservation Reserve Program land voluntarily not being farmed through the USDA). A social media post from Blue Mountain Fire says thanks to a little rain and a quick response from their volunteers had the blaze contained quickly. They went around it with a disc and used a mini excavator to dig through burning hay bales.
There’s no official word on what started the blaze. One estimate put it at 50 acres.
