
Governor Brad Little announced that wildland firefighters and critical support staff in the gem state will be getting a special “thank you”. They’re getting bonuses of up to $5,000 today.
Governor Little said “Our firefighters have done an incredible job so far this season of keeping fires small. As we enter the busiest and most dangerous part of our wildfire season here in Idaho…it is imporatnat we signal our strong support for the brave men and women who put their own safety on the line every time they head out for a fire so the rest of us can stay safe.”
The $1 million in bonuses was approved by the Leislature in the last legislative session.
More than 300 employees will be getting extra pay. Foremen will get $5,000. Fire Wardens, Assistant Fire Wardens, Fire Cache Storekeeps, and Fire Dispatchers will get $3,000. Permanent re-carded staff get $2,000. Returning seasonal firefighters will get $1,500 and first-year seasonal firefighters will each get $1,000.
