32% of Washington voters think Governor Bob Ferguson’s first 6 months have been “excellent” or “good”. Nearly as many, 31%, say he’s doing a “poor” job. The new poll from Cascade PBS/Elway took the pulse of Washingtonians on how well they think Ferguson is doing in his first 6 months in the top spot. The rating is the worst since Governor Mike Lowry in 1993.
81% of the people polled were either Democrat or Independent.
Of those surveyed, 43% call themselves Democrats, 19% Republicans, and 38% Independent. The survey asked 403 registered voters across the state between July 7th and 11th using landlines, cell phones, and online interviews.
An analysis of the poll responses by Cascade PBS/Elway says “Some were angry Ferguson signed off on new taxes; others said he focused too much on cutting spending. Some said he wasn’t doing enough to stand up to the Trump administration; others said he focused on the Trump administration too much. Some said he fell too deeply in line with Democrats; others said he was too moderate.
In the same poll, people were asked how they rate the state legislature. 34% said “poor”, 32% gave it a “fair” rating, and only 23% of people said they’re doing a “good” job.
