Two Fires Burn In The Payette National Forest

There are two fires burning east of McCall right now in the Payette National Forest.

Lightning started the Big Bear Fire July 9th in Idaho County. It’s now about 7,041 acres. Fire crews have set up sprinklers at Arctic Creek Lodge and River of No Return Lodge. It’s currently listed at 0% contained.

The Rush Fire was also started by lightning, this one back on July 10th. It’s just south of the county line in Valley County. Rush Creek Trail is currently closed and will stay that way until it’s safe again. At last check it was 6,082 acres in size. It’s also listed at 0% contained.
