
The Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to a grass and structure fire late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
According to a news release, the Lewiston Police Department advised there was a grass fire behind Eagle Transfer in north Lewiston at 704 29th Street North. First arriving units reported it was a combination of grass, vehicles, campers, tires, pallets, and other items in an outside storage area.
Engines used handlines, deck guns and ground monitors for suppression. Firefighers were on scene for about 5 hours before a fire watch was placed using a brush truck until the property owner had equipment come in to tear apart some of the piles and vehicles for full extinguishment at approximately 11am Wednesday morning. There were no injuries reported.
The Lewiston Fire Department received support from the Clarkston Fire Department, the Asotin County Fire District, Wheatland Fire and the Lewiston Police Department.
A damage estimate was not reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
