Cal Raleigh became the second Seattle Mariner, first catcher and first switch-hitter to win the Major League Baseball All-Star Home Run Derby last (Mon) night in Atlanta.
Raleigh belted 18 dingers in the final round to edge out Tampa Bay’s Junior Caminero who hit 15 homers.
The Big Dumper blasted 54 total home runs on the night and joined Ken Griffey Jr. as the only Mariners to capture the derby title. Griffey won the contest a record 3 times in his career.
Raleigh, along with teammates Randy Arozarena, Bryan Woo and Andres Munoz will represent the M’s on the American League roster for tonight’s (Tue) All-Star game. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m. Pacific Time from Truist Park with live television coverage on FOX.
