Idaho Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve or ESGR will conduct the annual Boss Lift event Thursday at 9 a.m. Mountain Time, inviting nearly a hundred local employers to Boise’s Gowen Field to learn and experience what life is like as a National Guardsman or Reservist in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Boss Lift demonstrates to employers of National Guard members the demands of our citizen-Soldiers and Airmen, while building and strengthening the bonds and relationships between Idaho Guardsmen/Reservists and their civilian employers.
Employers will learn about the mission of the Idaho National Guard and the Army Reserve, along with the many skills service members acquire through their training and service.
Employers will also receive equipment demonstrations and participate in military training simulators during their visit. Employers will also receive a familiarization flight in a UH-60 Black Hawk and KC-135R Stratotanker as it refuels Idaho Air National Guard A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft.
ESGR is a Department of Defense program established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component service members and their civilian employers. ESGR is supported by volunteers from small business and industry, government, education and prior military service, who assist employers, service members, and their families in balancing military and civilian life.
