High Temperatures Forecast for Much of the Pacific Northwest

The National Weather Service is forecasting dangerously high temperatures across parts of Washington and Idaho this week. Heat advisories are issued for several counties in both states for much of the week, with dangerously high temperatures both during the day and overnight and close to 100-degree highs expected through Saturday in some areas.

High heat can be dangerous, especially for people with pre-existing health conditions, the elderly, pregnant people, infants, the homeless, and people in historically marginalized communities.

Tips to avoid heat-related illnesses include: staying hydrated; keeping homes cool by shutting blinds and using fans to circulate air; avoid leaving children and pets inside vehicles while running errands; check in on neighbors and friends who may struggle with high temperatures; and be fire safe as the slightest spark can ignite dry vegetation.
