
All-Star Randy Arozarena homered and doubled and the Seattle Mariners scored four 9th inning runs to complete a road sweep of Detroit with 8-4 win to close out the first half of the season yesterday (Sun) at Comerica Park.
On the mound, Logan Gilbert pitched well, but didn’t qualify for a decision. The right-hander allowed 2 runs – none earned – on 6 hits with 9 strikeouts. Right-hander Matt Brash picked up his first win of the season with an inning of relief.
The Mariners are off for the All-Star break and will resume the season Friday at home against Houston.
Cal Raleigh, who leads the big leagues in home runs with 38, will compete in the All-Star Game Home Run Derby tonight (Mon) at Truist Park in Atlanta. The derby begins at 5 p.m. with coverage on ESPN.
