
Idaho drivers were pleasantly surprised when they stopped to fill up over the holiday weekend as gas prices held steady despite a record 72.2 million Independence Day Holiday travelers.
According to the American Automobile Association, Idaho’s average price for a gallon of regular is $3.42, the same as a week ago and 17 cents less than a year ago. The national average currently sits at $3.14 per gallon, which is four cents less than a week ago and about 37 cents cheaper than a year ago.
Idahoans are now paying the 7th-highest price for gasoline in the nation.
The West Texas Intermediate benchmark for crude oil is currently trading near $68 per barrel, which is $3 more than a week and a month ago, but $14 per barrel less than a year ago.
Of Idaho’s largest cities, Rexburg has the state’s highest average price for a gallon of regular gas at $3.42, while Franklin has Idaho’s lowest average price at $3.26. Lewiston’s average price for gallon of gasoline is currently $3.36.
