Major League Baseball has announced that Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh has been selected as the American League Player of the Month for June.

In 26 June games, Raleigh hit .300 with , 6 doubles, 11 home runs, 27 runs-batted-in, 22 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. He led the American League in home runs, RBI, and slugging percentage.

Raleigh, who yesterday (Wed) was named the starting catcher for the American League in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta, took home AL Player of the Week honors for the week of June 16-22.

During his award-winning month, Raleigh set the record for most home runs before the All-Star Break by a catcher, passing Hall of Famer Johnny Bench, who hit 28 home runs in 1970. He also set the record for most home runs by a switch hitter before the All-Star Break, passing Mickey Mantle’s 29 in 1955 and 1961, and José Ramírez, who hit 29 in 2018. He finished June with 33 home runs, becoming the 5th player in MLB history to reach that mark before July 1st, joining Ken Griffey Jr., Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire, all in 1998 and Barry Bonds who did it in 2001.

The award marks the first monthly honor in Raleigh’s career and the first Player of the Month award for a Mariner since Julio Rodríguez in August 2023.
