Idaho Crime Statistics Released

Crime is down in Nez Perce County. Not much, just .3%, but it’s still preferable to Clark County’s 250% increase in crime. The Idaho State Police released the Crime In Idaho 2024 report showing the statistics. Even so, Clark County’s crime rate is still lower overall than Nez Perce County. Nez Perce County is third highest in the state at 46.65 crimes per 1,000 people.

In Nez Perce County, robbery is up 300% to 4 crimes per thousand people. Pornography is up 200%. Sexual crimes are up more than 93% to 56 per thousand. On the positive side: homicide, kidnapping, and extortion all dropped to zero. Drug offenses saw an almost 10% drop. There were no homicides, animal cruelty, or human trafficking cases last year.

In Latah County, stolen property rose from 1 count in 2023 to 4 in 2024 for a 300% increase. Embezzlement rose 200% for a total of 3 and animal cruelty doubled from 5 counts to 10. Arson dropped from 5 to 1, extortion dropped from 8 to 1 and there were no counts of robbery or homicide.

Clearwater County saw a 69% rise in crime overall. Seven autos were stolen, driving the motor vehicle theft rate up 600% from 2023’s one stolen car. There was one homicide in 2024.

Idaho County’s crime dropped nearly 20%. There were four kidnappings, 14 weapons offenses, and 36 counts of larceny. Drug offenses dropped by more than 33% from 367 in 2023 to 245 in 2024. Embezzlement and Pornography dropped to zero and there were no homicides.

Lewis County saw one of the largest percentage drops in crime in Idaho going from 18.5 counts per thousand people to 6.98 per thousand. The only thing that rose was motor vehicle theft, going from 1 count in 2023 to 3 in 2024. There were no cases of homicide, animal cruelty, or sexual crimes last year.
