Idaho’s two U.S. Congressmen have voted in favor of the Fiscal Year 2026 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Idaho U.S. Representative Mike Simpson

The bill champions America’s veterans by fully funding veterans’ health care programs and benefits. The legislation also supports military families, strengthens America’s defense, and supports the Trump administration’s policy initiatives.

Highlights of the bill include: fully funding veterans’ health care programs; fully funding veterans’ benefits and VA programs; protecting the 2nd Amendment rights of veterans, preventing the VA from sending information to the FBI about veterans without a judge’s consent; syncing up with President Trump’s Executive Orders on no funds for DEI, gender affirming care, and protecting Hyde-like language at the VA; and prohibiting the VA from processing medical care claims for illegal aliens.

The measure was approved with a vote of 218-206 and now goes to the Senate for further consideration.
